The Humane Society of Dillon County’s second annual Chili Cook-Off was a great success. It was held in conjunction with the City of Dillon’s Holiday Goodness Bazaar on the grounds of the Dillon Wellness Center.
Ten teams of cookers competed for two prizes, the Judges’ Award, and the People’s Choice Award. Both winning teams received trophies and prize money of $150 each. Just as last year, both winning teams declined to keep the prize money for themselves. Pawsitively Purrfect, a team composed of young women from Columbia, Charleston, and Florence with strong ties to their hometown donated their prize money back to the Humane Society. Bibleway Tabernacle Church prizewinners used their winnings to fund a Christmas gift program for a local nursing home. So there were, in fact, many winners that day!
Many visitors to the Humane Society of Dillon County’s Chili Cook-Off expressed support for this and other projects of the Humane Society both verbally and financially through generous donations.
Everyone who wishes to join the Humane Society of Dillon County to work to improve the lives of all the homeless animals of Dillon County is invited to attend the group’s first meeting of the new year on January 19, 2016. To kick off the new year, which will be full of new and exciting projects, they plan to meet at the Dillon Country Club at 7:00 pm on that Tuesday night.
