GAFFNEY— James Erastus Tarte, 75, formerly of 717 Florence Street, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Mary Black Health System-Gaffney.
Born in Dillon, SC, he was the son of the late Major Erastus Tarte and Catherine Jones Tarte.  He was a self-employed carpenter, loved crafts and woodworking, was a S. C. National Guard member, and was a member of Mallory Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Angie Bridges and Lisa Roof, both of Gaffney; a sister, Bertie Frances Tarte Lovett and husband, Howard, of Dillon, SC; three grandchildren, Jessica Whisennant, Tela Dixon and Rain Spinks; four great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Tarte Kersey and a brother Sam Tarte.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mallory Church of God with Rev. David Kersey officiating.

Monroe McIntyre
Monroe McIntyre died Sunday, December 28, 2015 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Latta Presbyterian Church directed by Cooper Funeral Home.  The family received friends in the church Fellowship House immediately following the service.  
A private burial will be held at Evergreen Perpetual Care Cemetery.  
A public viewing was held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Monroe was born in Hamer, SC on March 14, 1933, the son of David Monroe McIntyre and Vera Gaddy McIntyre.  
He was educated in the public schools of Dillon County and received a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University.  
He was a farmer and was employed by the US Department of Agriculture for 37 years.  
Monroe was a member of Latta Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Trustee, Clerk of Session, and Elder Emeritus, and he was trustee and treasurer of Pee Dee Presbyterian Church Trust.  
He was Past Master and treasurer of Blue Lodge No. 142, was a member and president of the Dillon County Historical Society, charter member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp No. 1053, and member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.  
Monroe was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce in 2007 and received the Dolph Braddy Award in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Julia Naugle McIntyre; son, David McIntyre II (Melva); two grandsons David McIntyre III and Alexander McIntyre.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Charles Walker McIntyre and son Jefferson McIntyre.
