The Dillon Junior Varsity basketball team controlled the opening tip-off against Loris in play on Tuesday in Dillon.
#32 Dillon made both free throws to give Dillon a 2 to 0 lead. On the next offensive play #32 Dillon sank a basket for two points. #20 Dillon quickly added another point on one of two free throws. #32 Dillon hits for a 3-pointer to give Dillon a 7 to 0 lead and quickly connects on another 3-pointer to increase the lead to 10 to 0. #34 Dillon is fouled and shoots two free throws and connects on 1. #32 Dillon hits another 3-pointer to make the score 14 to 0 in Dillon’s favor.
With 3:14 remaining in the first quarter Dillon sends in 5 new players.
Loris’ first point of the game came on a free throw by #50. Loris gets a two-pointer.
#21 Dillon shoots, misses, and gets own rebound and scores 2. Dillon now leads 16 to 4 which is the score after the first quarter.
Dillon substitutes 5 players to begin the second quarter. #32 Dillon sinks one free throw to increase Dillon’s lead 17 to 4. #20 Dillon added 2-point field goal and #32 Dillon added another 2-point field goal to make the score 21 to 4 in favor of Dillon.
Dillon’s #25 sinks one of two free throws. #20 Dillon hits a 2-pointer quickly followed by #50 Loris who is fouled and sinks one of two free throws.
On the next trip down court Loris fouls #32 for Dillon who connects on two free throws. Dillon’s #33 hits one for two. On the next offensive play for Dillon #33 is fouled and hits two free throws. Dillon now leads 30 to 5. It appears everything in this game is going Dillon’s way.
With 2:46 remaining in the second quarter Dillon substitutes five players. #23 for Dillon continues with another basket for two points while #24 for Dillon connects on a long 3-pointer to now give Dillon a 35 to 5 lead. Loris’ #50 hits a long 3 quickly followed by #20 Dillon who hits a long 3. #35 Dillon sinks one of two free throws. At halftime Dillon led 39 to 9.
The final score was 60 to 21.
