Richmond, VA – Douglas Evans Butler, 86, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Richmond, VA. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, SC.  The family will receive friends after the service.  Kannaday Funeral Home is assisting the family in Dillon, SC.

Douglas was born in Dillon, SC on September 29, 1929, the son of the late Alford and Maude Carmichael Butler. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad and was a member of Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  Douglas was a member of Edgemont Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC and served in the United States Air Force.
 
He is survived by his spouse, Margie Carolyn McCaskill Butler of Richmond, VA; sons, Douglas “Doug” Butler, Jr. (Cheryl) of Asheville, NC; daughters, Karen B. Powell (Mark) of Richmond, VA and Lynn B. Holt (Nick) of Wake Forest, NC; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Butler was predeceased by two brothers and two sister-in-laws, Alford Butler, Jr (Evelyn) and Joel Butler (Johnnie).
