The Latta Vikings shut out Green Sea Floyds 9-0 in varsity baseball action on Tuesday, March 22, at Green Sea.
Colby Lee pitched the complete 7-inning game and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 13.
The Vikings never trailed in the game after putting a run on the scoreboard in the first inning. The Vikings proceeded to add 2 runs in the second and third innings and added 4 more runs in the fifth inning to blank Green Sea Floyds.
Colby Lee picked up 3 hits in 5 trips to the plate including a triple and a rbi while Cledus Williams was 2 for 5 at the plate and also picked up a rbi.
McLeod Carmichael and Caleb Mishue each picked up 1 hit in 3 at-bats while Mishue also was credited with a rbi.
Dylan Brewer and Jackson Williams each garnered 1 hit in 4 at-bats while Williams’ hit was a double.
Johnathan Ray and Brady Hatchell each picked up a rbi and Dalton Lane successfully picked up 2 rbi. The Vikings had 9 hits and did not commit an error while Green Sea Floyds managed only 1 hit and committed 7 errors.
Gillard pitched 4 1/3 innings for Green Sea Floyds and allowed 7 hits, 9 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 2 in the loss.
Latta is now 8-1 for the season and 2-0 in Region 8-A.
The Latta Vikings hosted Carvers Bay on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
