The Latta Vikings varsity baseball team defeated Creek Bridge 19-0 and 10-0 in a doubleheader played in Marion on Tuesday, April 5, while holding Creek Bridge hitless.
In game 1, Dalton Lane pitched 2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 4 and allowed no hits.
Hucks pitched 3 innings for Creek Bridge and allowed 16 hits, 19 runs of which 6 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 1 while Creek Bridge committed 5 errors in the game.
The Vikings picked up 4 runs in the top of the first inning, added 8 more in the second inning, and 7 more in the third inning.
John Malcolm George for the Vikings had 3 hits in 3 trips to the plate with a rbi.
Kody Anderson was perfect at the plate for Latta with 2 hits in 2 trips to the plate with 3 rbi. Eric McGirt managed a triple and 2 rbi in his 2 trips to the plate. Colby Lee was also perfect garnering 1 hit in 1 at-bat with 2 rbi.
In game 2, McLeod Carmichael picked up the win while pitching only 1 inning and allowing no hits while striking out 1.
Creek Bridges’ Hughes was tabbed with the loss while pitching 3 innings and allowing 6 hits, 10 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 6, and struck out 1.
Latta did not commit an error while the Bears committed 4.
The Vikings’ McLeod Carmichael was perfect at the plate as he went 2 for 2 with a rbi, and Jackson Williams garnered 1 hit in 1 at-bat with 2 rbi while Noah Moody was 2 for 3 at the plate with a rbi. Latta is 15-1 for the season.
The Vikings will host Timmonsville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
