Defeats Green Sea
The Latta Lady Vikings defeated Green Sea Floyds 16 to 1 in varsity softball action on Friday, April 8, in Latta.
Brandy Williams pitched the 3-inning game for the Vikings and allowed 2 hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out 1.
The Vikings’ Madison Owens was perfect at the plate with 4 hits in 4 trips including a home run and 4 rbi. Kaleigh Caulder garnered 2 hits in 3 at-bats including a triple and 2 rbi. Brooke Carter also picked up 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate and 3 rbi.
Latta is 14 and 6 for the season.
The Latta Vikings will travel to Carvers Bay today (Tuesday) at 6:00 p.m.

Defeats Lake View
In Varsity Softball
The Florence Christian Eagles defeated the Lake View Wild Gators varsity softball team 5 to 4 in Lake View on Friday, April 8. The Eagles’ Tori Alexander pitched the complete game and allowed 9 hits, 4 runs of which were earned, walked 2, and struck out 1.
Ally Spivey pitched the 7-inning game in the loss for the Wild Gators while allowing 10 hits, 5 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 1.
Florence Christian grabbed an early lead in the first inning by adding 1 run to the scoreboard. The Eagles added another run in the top of the third, and the Wild Gators answered with 2 runs  in the bottom of the third to knot the game at 2.
Each team picked up 2 runs in the fourth to tie the game at 4. However, Florence Christian managed the winning run in the top of the fifth and held Lake View scoreless until the game was over. Each team committed 2 errors in the game.
Kaleigh Perez got 3 hits in 4 at-bats for the Eagles, and Brooke Brown added 2 hits in 2 hits in her 3 trips to the plate to lead Florence Christian. The Wild Gators were led by who picked up 2 hits in 4 at-bats, and Ally Spivey managed 1 hit in 4 trips to the plate.

Defeats DCS In Baseball
Florence Christian Eagles defeated the Dillon Christian School 8 to 1 in varsity baseball action on Friday, April 8, in Dillon.
Forence Christian’s Ethan Goodale pitched the entire 7-inning game and struck out 4, walked 1, allowed 4 hits, and 1 earned run  to claim the victory.
Michael Minges pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Warriors and allowed 11 hits, 5 earned runs, and struck out 5 in the loss.
Each team scored 1 run in the first inning. Florence Christian added 2 runs in the second, 2 runs in the fourth, 2 runs in the sixth, and 2 runs in the final inning while collecting 14 hits.
The Eagles’ John Weldon went 3 for 5 at the plate with 3 rbi while Cannon Brunson also was 3 for 5 in his 5 at-bats for Florence Christian.
Nick Baker garnered 2 hits in his 5 at-bats for Florence Christian, and Chase Keefe was 1 for 3. Andre Walker also got 1 hit in 2 at-bats for the Eagles.
Dillon Christian School picked up 4 hits and committed 2 errors in the loss.
Dillon Christian School was led by Shack Ford who was 2 for 3 at the plate, and Boykin got 2 hits in his 4 at-bats for the Warriors.

Lady Wildcats
Defeat Waccamaw
The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated Waccamaw 14 to 1 in varsity softball action played at Waccamaw on Thursday, April 7.
The Lady ‘Cats’ bats were hot garnering 13 hits in the 5-inning game as The ‘Cats got off to an early lead in the top of the first inning scoring 2 runs. The scoring continued in the top of the second as the Wildcats managed 6 runs and also picked up 3 in the top of the third inning. The ‘Cats were held scoreless in the top of the fourth but again picked up 3 runs in the top of the fifth.
Waccamaw’s lone run came in the bottom of the third inning. Waccamaw managed 2 hits in the game and committed 3 errors while the ‘Cats did not commit an error.
The Wildcats were led by Erin Bailey who was 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 3 rbi. Brittany Miller also came through for the Wildcats with a home run and 2 rbi.
Auh’Kieria Smiley was perfect at the plate with 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 2 rbi.  Tori Grimsley also picked up 2 rbi in 2 hits at the plate for the Lady Wildcats.
Marissa Tyndall pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 run, 2 hits, and struck out 4.
Jordan was tagged with the loss for Waccamaw.
Dillon is 8 and 3 on the season and 5 and 1 in conference play.
Dillon hosted the Latta Lady Vikings on Monday, April 11.

Vikings Defeat Green Sea
The Vikings’ Colby Lee pitched a no-hitter in 6 innings against Green Sea- Floyds in Latta on Friday, April 8,  while striking out 10 in the 10-0 victory.
Gillard was credited with the loss for Green Sea Floyds. He allowed 7 hits, walked 3, struck out 2, and allowed 5 runs of which 4 were earned. Morrow came in relief and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, and allowed 5 runs of which 3 were earned.
Latta picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning.  The Vikings also picked up a single run in the bottom of the fourth, 2 in the fifth, and 5 in the bottom of the sixth.
Green Sea Floyds committed 4 errors while Latta did not commit any.
Latta picked up 11 hits and was led by Dylan Brewer who went 4 for 4 with a double and a triple and 3 rbi, McLeod Carmichael picked up 2 singles in 3 trips to the plate with 2 rbi, and Colby Lee picked up 2 rbi in his lone hit in 4 trips to the plate. Eric McGirt picked up an single and a double in his 3 at-bats. Caleb Mishue also singled in 2 trips to the plate and picked up a rbi while Dalton Lane picked up a single and a rbi in his at-bats for the Vikings.
Latta is 17 and 1 on the season.
The Vikings will travel to Carvers Bay today (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m.

Latta Defeats Carvers Bay
The Latta Vikings varsity baseball team defeated Carvers Bay Bears 10-0 in a 5-inning game played in Hemingway on Tuesday, April 12.
The Vikings McLeod Carmichael pitched 4 shutout innings and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 6 in the victory.
Dalton Lane pitched one inning for the Vikings and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 1.
Carvers Bay’s #7, Dennis, pitched .2 inning and allowed 1hit. T. Cribb for the Bears pitched 4.1 innings and allowed 9 hits, walked 4, and struck out 1 while allowing 10 runs of which only 4 were earned.
The Vikings picked up a single run in the third inning, 4 runs in the fourth, and 5 runs in the fifth.
The Vikings picked up 11 hits and was led by Jackson Williams who went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and 2 singles and garnered 1 rbi.
Dalton Lane homered  and picked up 2 rbi for the Vikings.
John Malcolm George was perfect in his 1 trip to the plate with a single and a rbi for Latta while Jonathan Ray picked up 2 hits in his 3 at-bats including a double and a single with 1 rbi.
Eric McGirt also picked up 2 singles and a rbi in his 4 trips to the plate for Latta while Cledus Williams got a double and rbi in his 3 at-bats. Colby Lee singled and got a rbi in his 4 trips to the plate.
The Bears’ #16,  Weatherford,  hit a double in his 2 trips to the plate while #4, C. Williams, singled in his 2 at-bats.
The Latta Vikings committed 1 error, and the Carvers Bay Bears committed 5 errors.
Latta is 18-1 for the season.

Lady Vikings Win
The Latta Lady Vikings defeated the Carvers Bay Bears 3 to 1 in varsity softball action played on Tuesday, April 12, in Hemingway. Latta’s Arica Gandy pitched the complete 7-inning game and allowed 5 hits, l run that was not earned, walked 2 and struck out 6 in the victory.
The Bears’ Haselden also pitched 7 innings and allowed 9 hits, 3 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 5 in the loss.
The Latta Vikings managed 9 hits in the game while holding the Carvers Bay Bears to 5 hits.
Madison Owens had a 2-run homer in the fifth inning and also a single in the first inning to lead the Vikings in hitting while going 2 for 4 at the plate while garnering 3 rbi.
Carvers Bay’s McLean picked up the lone rbi.
Latta committed 3 errors in the game, and Carvers Bay committed only 1.
Latta is now 15-7 for the season.
