The Dillon District Four School Board adopted the new 10-point grading scale for grades k-8 at their meeting on Monday night.
The state is requiring grades 9-12 to use the new scale beginning next year, but it was left to local boards to decide whether to use the scale for grades K-8.
The current scale is as follows:
Uniform Grading Scale
93-100-A
85-92-B
77-84- C
70-76-D
Below 70 -F
The new scale will be as follows:
New 10-point Scale
90-100-A
80-89- B
70-79- C
60-69-D
Below 60- F
Superintendent Ray Rogers said the new scale will help students.
Areas where it will help will include scholarships and athletic eligibility Lynn Liebenrood said they propose that they adopt the scale for grade K-8 which will make the district uniform.
