Lady Cats Defeat Falcons
The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Darlington Falcons 8-4 in varsity softball action on Thursday, April 21, in Dillon.
Tori Grimsley struck out 10 while pitching the complete game for the Wildcats. She allowed 7 hits, 4 runs, and walked only 1.
Maddle was credited with the loss for Darlington.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats never trailed in the game as the ‘Cats scored first with a run in the top of the first inning to take the lead. Dillon added 2 runs in the top of the second inning and 2 more in the top of the fourth before Darlington tagged Dillon for 4 runs in the top of the fifth. Dillon added 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Dillon picked up 11 hits in the game while committing only 2 errors.
Darlington managed 7 hits and 1 error.
Dillon’s Skyler McCoy was perfect at the plate going 3 for 3 and a rbi.
The Lady ‘Cats’ Auh’Kieria Smiling picked up 3 rbi in her 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate.
Marissa Tyndall and A’Doshia Graves each garnered 2 hits and a rbi in 4 at-bats for Dillon.
Johnna Rogers also connected for 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate for Dillon.
Dillon is 14-4 for the season and 9-1 in Region 8-2A.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats will play a tiebreaker game against the winner of Aynor and Loris on Monday, April 25.
Vikings Defeat Gators
The Latta Vikings defeated the Lake View Wild Gators 4-2 in varsity baseball action on Wednesday, April 20, in Latta.
Lake View picked up a run in the top of the first inning to take an early lead in this 7-inning game. Lake View scored another run in the top of the third inning before Latta could tie the game in the bottom of the third. Latta garnered 2 more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Colby Lee picked up the win for the Latta Vikings while pitching the entire 7 innings and allowing 4 hits and 2 runs while walking 1 and striking out 6.
Lake View’s W. Rogers was credited with the loss as he pitched 3 innings and allowed 1 hit, walked 1, struck out 3, and 2 runs.
The Wild Gators’ C. Rogers also pitched 3 innings and allowed 5 hits, no walks, struck out 6, and 2 runs of which 1 was earned.
Latta committed 6 errors in the game while Lake View committed 2.
Cledus Williams was perfect at the plate for Latta with 2 singles in 2 at-bats with 1 rbi while Jackson Williams picked up a single in 2 trips to the plate. Caleb Mishue garnered a single in 2 at-bats and scored a run.
Latta’s Eric McGirt picked up a single in 3 trips to the plate and scored 2 runs while Jonathan Ray also singled in 3 at-bats.
Deonte Stanley also scored a run for the Vikings.
Lake View’s W. Rogers got 2 singles in his 4 at-bats while N. Collins and S. Spivey each singled in 3 trips to the plate.
N. Spivey and D. Bridgett each scored a run for Lake View.
DIllon Defeats Auctioneers
Dillon defeated the Auctioneers 15-5 in a 5-inning varsity baseball game played Wednesday, April 20, in Dillon.
Dillon’s Seniors Austin Moody,
Kaleb Page struck out 5 and allowed only 3 hits to pick up the victory for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats picked up 10 hits in the game.
Austin Moody was 1-for-2 at the plate with a 3-run home run and 3 rbi while Kaleb Page was perfect at the plate with 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 2 rbi.
Dillon jumped out to an early lead scoring 1 run in the bottom of the first inning. The ‘Cats added another run in the bottom of the second inning while picking up 9 runs in the bottom of the third and another 4 in the bottom of the fourth. The Wildcats did not commit an error in the game while Mullins committed 2. Dillon will play in the Class 1A playoffs on April 28.
Eagles Defeat Warriors
Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles defeated the Dillon Christian School Warriors 5-0 in a 7-inning varsity baseball game held on Thursday, April 21, in Mullins.
Jesse Lane pitched 4 shutout innings, allowed 2 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5 in the victory for Pee Dee Academy.
Pee Dee Academy scored 2 urns in the bottom of the second inning and added 3 more runs in the bottom of the third to seal the victory.
Michael Minges was credited with the loss for the Dillon Christian School Warriors.
The Golden Eagles’ Dalton Bufkin picked up 2 rbi in his one hit in his 3 at-bats while Trent Rogers also picked up a rbi on 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate.
FC Eagles Defeat DCS
The Florence Christian Eagles defeated the Dillon Christian School Warriors varsity baseball team 12-3 on Wednesday, April 20, in a game played in Florence.
The Eagles’ Ethan Goodale pitched 4 innings and allowed 6 hits and no runs while walking 2 and striking out 5 for the victory.
Mirges suffered the loss for the Warriors.
The Warriors garnered a total of 7 hits in the game and committed 2 errors. The Warriors scored 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Florence Christian picked up 8 hits and committed 1 error.
Florence Christian picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. The Eagles added 2 in the bottom of the third, 4 in the bottom of the fourth, and 5 in the bottom of the sixth.
Lady Cats Defeat Auctioneers
The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Mullins Auctioneers 15-0 in a 3-inning game played in Dillon on Wednesday, April 20.
Three seniors: Erin Bailey, Marissa Tyndall, and Tiffany Dwyer, for the Dillon Wildcats were recognized before the game began.
The Lady Wildcats’ Tiffany Dwyer pitched a no-hitter while striking out6.
Hargrove was tabbed with the loss for the Auctioneers while pitching 3 innings and allowing 11 hits and 15 runs of which 9 were earned.
Mullins committed 9 errors, and Dillon committed 1.
Dillon picked up 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead and added another run in the bottom of the second and 4 more in the bottom of the third.
Dillon’s Marissa Tyndall was perfect at the plate connecting on 3 hits in 3 trips to the plate including a double and a rbi. A’Doshia Graves picked up 2 hits in 3 at-bats including a home run and 3 rbi. Tori Grimsley and Johnna Rogers each picked up 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate for the Lady ‘Cats.
Dillon is 13-4 for the season and 9-1 in Region 8-2A.
Dillon hosted Darlington on Thursday, April 21.
Vikings Softball Defear Gators
The Latta Vikings varsity softball team defeated the Lake View Wild Gators 7-2 on Wednesday, April 20, in Latta.
The Viking’s Erica Gandy pitched 6 and 1/3 innnings and allowed 5 hits, 2 runs, and struck out 6.
Ally Spivey was credited with the loss for the Lake View Wild Gators while pitching 6 innings. She allowed 11 hits , 7 runs of which 6 were earned, and walked one.
Latta took an early lead while scoring 1 run in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Vikings added 5 runs in the bottom of the third and another run int eh bottom of the sixth inning.
Lake View battled back with 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Madison Hyatt led Latta with 3 hits in 4 at-bats including a home run and rbi. Brooke Carter picked up double in 2 trips to the plate while Maddy Long connected on a dojuble and rbi in her 3 at-bats for Latta. Genesis Anderson garnered 2 hits including a triple and a rbi in her 3 trips to the plate. Kaleigh Caulder connected for a double in 4 at-bats for the Vikings.
Ally Spivey was perfect with 3 hits in her 3 trips to the plate for Lake View.
Latta is 17-7 for the season and a perfect 10-0 in Region 8-A.
Lady Wildcats Defeat Aynor
The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated Aynor 5-4 on Monday, April 25, in Loris, in the tie-breaker.
Tori Grimsley pitched 6 and 1/3 innings and allowed 8 hits, 4 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 3 to claim the victory for Dillon.
Brooke Elliott was credited with the loss for Aynor.
Tori Grimsley connected on 2 hits and a rbi in 3 trips to the plate to lead the Lady Wildcats. Ashley Phillips was also 2 for 3 at-bats while Taylor Blackmon garnered 1 hit and a rbi in her 3 trips to the plate. Marissa Tyndall connected on 1 hit in 4 at-bats for the Lady Wildcats.
Dillon ended the regular season at 15-4 and 10-1 in region play.
Dillon will host Lee Central in the Class 2A playoffs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28.
