Services for Lemmie Harold Shankle, Jr. were held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation was held 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Shankle, 87, died Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence.
Born in Scotland County, NC, July 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Lemmie Harold Shankle, Sr. and Cleo Johnson Shankle.  He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, having served 26 years of service, and was a former Security Guard at South of the Border for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Laura Jeanette Norton Shankle of Dillon; son, Ernest Harold Shankle (Sharon) of Dillon; step-grandson, Jamie (Heather) Hulon of North Charleston; step-great-grandson, Jay Hulon.
Mr. Shankle was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Shankle McKenzie, and Grace McDaniel; and brother, LeeRoy Shankle.
