For years I have been interested in the Guardian ad Litem program as I have worked with children in church and community all of my adult life. Last year I decided it was time to broaden my influence on the lives of children though Guardian ad Litem,” says Pamela McCormick.
Ms. McCormick, a respiratory therapist and manager of a company, joined the Cass Elias McCarter Guardian ad Litem program in July 2015. During her brief time as a volunteer, she has advocated for more than five children. “I have been introduced to a vast array of people, each operating within their own capacity while working toward the goal of the best interest of the children,” McCormick continued to say.
“My first impression of the program left me with feelings of respect and awe. I had an idea of what the program was about, but thorough education process, I have come to have a much greater respect and love for the Guardian ad Litem program in general.” Ms. McCormick continued, “I strive to investigate every potential area of each case in order to determine what is in the best interest of the child. NO is not an option for me until all possibilities are explored.”
“I would like for people to know that volunteering as a GAL has been the most rewarding, yet challenging task that I have undertaken. The abused and neglected children of our community need a voice and the opportunity to be that voice is a privilege and very humbling,” said McCormick.
