An arrest was made in the murder that occurred Saturday, October 1, on Oaky Point Road in Latta, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Donovan Samir Lewis, age 24, of Rowland, North Carolina, was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday night. Lewis is the step-son of the deceased.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office charged Lewis with murder after finding the victim deceased at her residence on Oaky Point Road in Latta.
Coroner Donnie Grimsley identifies the victim as Eva Lewis, age 52, of the Latta area.
Grimsley said she died  as a result of head injuries.
A second person in the residence was also seriously injured, and as of Saturday was in critical condition, according to an initial report by Arnette.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office is waiting for Lewis to appear in court in North Carolina to determine when he will be returned to Dillon County.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dillon County Coroner’s Office, Latta Police Department and SLED.
