Frank Hyatt, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born October 22, 1930, in Dillon, SC; he was the son of the late Rachel and Maston Hyatt and husband of the late Bobbie Price Hyatt.
A 1958 graduate of the University of South Carolina and U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Hyatt was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, usher, and on the Finance, Educational Trust, and Missions Teams. He was a member of the Gaskins and Early Bird Sunday School Classes and Young at Heart. He was also a former member of the Rotary Club of Spartanburg.
Mr. Hyatt was employed for 34 years by the Citizens and Southern National Bank, later becoming NationsBank; having worked in Columbia, Florence, Rock Hill, and Spartanburg, where he retired as Assistant Vice President in 1992.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Carol Hyatt; and son, Rev. Dr. Wayne F. Hyatt. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Diane Ketchum Hyatt of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Kaylie Hyatt, Lindy Hyatt, and Shelley Hyatt, all of Spartanburg, SC; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Nicole Hyatt; brothers, Marvin Hyatt of Rock Hill, SC and Horace Hyatt of Clinton, NC; and sisters, Geraldine Hyatt and Hazel H. McNair, both of Dillon, SC. He was also predeceased by a brother, Fred Hyatt; and sisters, Zeldon Hyatt and Jeanette Hyatt.
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or the Charles Lea Center, 195 Burdette Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
