Mrs. Jan Atkins Arnette, 89, widow of Horace Arnette, passed away November 5, 2016 at McLeod Hospice House of Florence following a period of declining health.
 
Born in Dillon County Jan. 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Elsie Coleman Atkins.  Mrs. Arnette was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include her children, Van, Joyce and Charles Arnette, all of Dillon, and Fay (Marion) Rentz of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Carmichael, Jacob (Rebecca) Arnette, Wilson (Tiffany) Arnette, Rebecca (Jeremy) Pollett, Rachel Rentz, and Ashlyn Arnette; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Page of Florence, SC and Marian (CM) Powe of Huntsville, AL.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret A. Saffold.
 
Services for Mrs. Arnette will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8.  Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooke Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 1:00 at the church prior to the funeral service.
