The Latta Vikings defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes 47-17 in varsity football action on Friday, Nov. 4, in Marion.
Tysheen Felton scampered for 23 yards and the first points of the game. The PAT was good, and Marion led 7-0.
With just over 3 minutes into the game Deonte Stanley tied the game with a 37-yard reception.
Marion’s Tysheen Felton quickly put the Swamp Foxes back in the lead on a 40-yard run. Felton picked up 105 on 11 carries for the game. The PAT was good, and Marion led 14-7.
The Swamp Foxes added a 3-point field goal before the half to take a 17-7 lead at halftime.
However, the Vikings picked up steam in the third quarter at Davonta Porter scored from 4 yards out with 8:50 remaining in the third quarter.
The Viking’s Ontario McClellan scored from 45 yards out on a fake punt to give Latta a 21-17 lead.
The final score was 47-17 as Latta picked up their sixth victory of the season.
Quarterback Dylan Brewer connected on 13 of 23 pass attempts for 249 yards and one touchdown for the Latta Vikings.  He also had one intercepted.
Deonta Stanley was on the receiving end of 6 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown while Davonta Porter caught 5 passes for 118 yards. Kendall Moultrie picked up 6 yards on 2 receptions in the Vikings win.
Latta’s Ontario McClellan had 116 rushing yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. Jarmarcus Legette carried 16 times for 151 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Mikey Dotson led the Latta defense with 10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, and 1 FR. Davonta Porter added 11 tackles  while Justine Hall had 7 tackles and 1 FF while Chandler Matthews had 7 tackles.
Trey Manning added 6 tackles and 1 FF for the Latta defense while Jalen Gomillion and Dylan Carter each had 4 tackles.  Hayden Graham added 3 tackles for Latta.
Latta is 6-3 for the season and 4-1 in Region play.
The Vikings will host Johnsonville on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
