Every year, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, members of First Presbyterian Church, in Dillon, pile into their cars with pies, canned goods, cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing, and a large turkey. These Thanksgiving meals are taken to many families in the Dillon area that are in need of assistance during the holiday season.
This year, First Presbyterian delivered these meals to twenty-six families, the most in their church history. Amy McColl, Margaret Carter, and the Missions Committee of the church led this effort. The canned goods are received at the Dillon Christian School, which is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church, and the boxes are prepared the week before delivery.
Finally, many elders, deacons, ministry leaders, and members of the church, meet during the afternoon on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to begin their deliveries. While out delivering, Bibles are given to each family and prayer is offered.
The church would like to give a big “Thank You!” for all that helped make this ministry event a success for yet another year. They are already looking forward to next Thanksgiving, so they can do it all over again!
