Services for Charlie S. Taylor were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Dillon Congregational Holiness Church directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Entombment with military honors was held in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor, 89, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon after a long illness.
Born in Dillon County, SC, April 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Donnie Taylor and Ressie Lane Taylor.
He was a member of Congregational Holiness Church, retired from Dixiana Mill, and was a painter.
He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Taylor of the home; daughter, Martha (Tony) Horne of Lake View, SC; grandchildren, Tonya (Liston) Martin, and Renee (Jerald) Brown; great-grandchildren, Emily McCutheon, Darby Morrison, Dylan Morrison of Florence, SC, Savannah Church and Camryn Church of Dillon; sister, Elease Horton of Florence; special nieces, Carolyn Bethea, Deborah Byrd and Sarah Webster, all of Dillon, SC.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his sisters, Janie Jackson, Betty Mae Davis and Louise Herring.
