The Latta Lady Vikings’ Arica Gandy pitched the complete 7-inning game and took the 4-2 win over the Carvers Bay Lady Bears 4-2 in a varsity softball game played in Latta on Friday, April 7.
Gandy allowed only 4 hits, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, walked no one, and struck out 2 in the win.
The Lady Bears’ Megan Dennis was tagged with the loss while pitching 5 innings. She allowed 5 hits, 4 runs of which 2 were earned, walked no one, and struck out 1.
The game was scoreless until the Lady Bears put a run on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning to take a short-lived lead before the Lady Vikings put 2 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Latta managed 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up 4-1. In the top of the sixth inning, Carvers Bay place a run on the board to close the gap to only 2 runs but neither team managed to score again in the game.
Madison Owens connected for 2 hits in 3 at-bats for the Lady Vikings while Macy Hyatt garnered 1 hit and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats.
Latta is 11-6 for the season.
