On Sunday, May 13, 2018, a detention officer with the Dillon County Detention Center was assaulted by an inmate, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office. The assault occurred when the detention officer was delivering a food tray to the inmate and the inmate become confrontational about the food tray. The detention officer received injuries during the assault and had to receive medical treatment related to the injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Dillon Police Department.
