An attempt to serve a warrant resulted in a police chase on Monday.
On Monday, October 29, 2018 at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to serve a warrant on an individual at a local business, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect become aware of law enforcement being at the location and ran out of the building. The suspect got into a vehicle and drove off driving in an erratic manner.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle by activating blue lights and sirens, and the suspect refused to stop, said Arnette. A chase ensued.
The chase started on Highway 9 west outside of Dillon and ended in North Carolina at the three-mile marker on Interstate 95 in Robeson County where the suspect wrecked.
The suspect was airlifted from the wrecked scene.
The wreck is being investigated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The suspect was driving erratically during the chase and hit two Dillon County Sheriff’s vehicles, the deputies were not injured.
