The Dillon City Council recently approved the recommendations for the accommodations tax disbursements.
This is the money collected from local motels by the state. Dillon City Manager Glen Wagner said, “The first $25,000 goes into the City’s General Fund, 30 percent of the remaining balance must be allocated to a tourism-based agency, i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Visitors’ Center, or Regional Tourism Commission. The city uses Dillon County Chamber of Commerce. The remaining balance (35%) goes to the City of Dillon accommodations tax committee to recommend to City Council on how to use.”
The committee made the following recommendations:
City of Dillon Parks and Recreation State Baseball Tournament—$10,000
Dillon County Historical Society (J.W. Dillon House)—$3,800
Pee Dee Tourism—$6,000
Dillon County Theatre (Performances, Marketing, Building Maintenance)—$20,000
Dillon County Pop-Up Farmers Market (Marketing)—$2,500
