The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged Jimmy Jones, age 47, of Lake View, with kidnapping, possession of a weapon during violent crime, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, and pointing and presenting firearms at a person, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges come from the hostage situation that occurred Tuesday on Joann Branch in Lake View where Jones was holding three people hostage, one adult and two children against their will inside a residence. Deputies with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office responded to Joann Branch Road after a 9-1-1 call was made by a family member.
The hostage situation ended successfully with only minor injuries to the adult male victim. The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement (SLED) with the hostage situation and support from Dillon, Lake View, and Latta Police Departments and Dillon County EMS.
