Richard (Rick) David Covington, 65, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born at St. Eugene Hospital in Dillon, SC, October 25, 1954, he was the son of the late Benny Covington and Lola Fore Covington.
He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Rick carried on the legacy started by his parents of placing American flags on the veteran graves in Dillon County. Rick had a heart for the homeless and veterans.
He and his best Jimmy Hayes went to the soup kitchen at the beach and shared blankets with the homeless. He was a former welder at Montone.
Survivors include his son, Byron Covington (Jaime) of Latta; grandsons, Dawson Covington and Weston Covington; brother, Whitey Covington (Pam) of West Columbia, SC; sister, Vickie Hyatt (Glenn) of Dillon; canine companion, Jim Bob, given by Annelle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Reaves Covington; his parents, Benny & Lola Covington; his brother, Luke Covington; sister-in-law, Annelle Covington; father-in-law, Jimmy Reaves; and mother-in-law, Billie Kate Page.
