The Carolina Academy Lady Bobcats of Lake City proved to be too much for the Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors on Friday, February 5, as they returned home wiith a 44-24 win in varsity basketball action played in Dillon.
The Lady Bobcats held a 10-5 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, Dillon Christian School had cut the lead to only 2 points, 14-12. In the third period of play, Carolina Academy managed to outscore Dillon Christian School by 9 points to take an 11-point lead.
The Lady Bobcats’ R. Amos led everyone in scoring with 15 points by connecting on three 3-point baskets, two 2-point baskets, and sinking 2 of 3 free throws from the charity line. A. Turner added 6 of 8 free throws and a 3-point basket for 9 points. V. Timmons connected for three 2-point baskets and was perfect at the charity line with 2 of 2 attempts for 8 points. H. Welch sank three 2-point shots for 6 points. G. Weaver connected for 4 points on two 2-point baskets. R. Amos garnered a 2-point bucket.
Dillon Christian School was led in scoring by Katie Collins with 11 points on two 2-point baskets and 7 of 11 free throws while Briannon Brewingon had 10 points on two 3-point baskets and two 2-point baskets. Michelle Chen was perfect at the free throw line connecting on 2 of 2 attempts while Sheridan Rice sank a free throw.
The Carolina Bobcats committed 10 fouls in the first half and 3 in the second half while Dillon Christian School committed 8 fouls in the first half and 7 fouls in the second half.
