The Lake View Lady Wild Gators returned home on Monday, February 8, with a a 62-29 win over the Johnsonville Lady Flashes in varsity basketball action played in Johnsonville.
The Lady Wild Gators were in control of the game and led 14-7 after the first period of play. By halftime, Lake View was up 33-18. After 3 periods of play, Lake View had doubled the scoring against Johnsonville and led 52-26.
The Lady Wild Gators’ Ja’Niyah Waters led all scorers with 22 points. She connected on nine 2-point baskets and four free throws. Zan’Dasia McNeil added 12 points on six 2-point baskets. Gwendasia Page placed 10 points on the scoreboard with four 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Jaleya Ford had three 2-point baskets and was perfect at the charity line connecting on 3 free throws in 3 attempts for a total of 9 points. Sa’Nyah Williams added 7 points on two 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Cornelia Mace sank a 2-point basket.
Johnsonville’s Nyasia Graham led her team in scoring with three 2-point baskets and 2 free throws for 8 points. Terionna Nesmith had two 2-point baskets and 2 free throws for 6 points while TaNiya Timmons added 5 points on two 2-point baskets and a free throw. Brooke Eaddy sank 4 free throws for 4 points. Antaniya Brown, Chloe Cribb, and Miasia Graham each sank a 2-point basket.
The Lady Wild Gators and the Lady Flashes each committed 8 fouls in the first half and 9 fouls in the second half.
Lake View will travel to Lamar on Friday, February 12.
