Services for Ernest “Woodrow” Hayes were held 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hayestown Cemetery. Visitation was held 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Hayes passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Born in Latta, South Carolina January 17, 1938, he was the son of Waymon Hayes and Suda Mae (Davis) Hayes. He was a member of the Dillon Congregational Church. Woodrow was retired from the Town of Weston Connecticut. After moving back home to Dillon, South Carolina he had a successful painting business with his wife Trudy.
He was the husband of 63 years of Gertrude “Trudy” Hayes. His predeceased brothers include Waymon Hayes and sister-in-law Ida Mae, Charles Hayes and David Hayes.
Survivors include sister-in-law Nancy and sons, Michael Allen Hayes (Wendy Marie) of Maryland, and Timothy Woodrow Hayes (Cindy Marie) of Connecticut; grandchildren, Nicole, Crystal (Mike), Michael, Jr., Ashley, Amanda, Timothy, Jr., (Kasey) and Troy; great-grandson, Cameron.
