Mariah K. Melton, daughter of Tramaine Spears, has been awarded the Kathleen Lazar Baskin-Florence Symphony Guild musical grant.
With a generous gift from the Baskin Family, The Florence Symphony Guild established an endowed fund at the East Carolina Community Foundation.
The purpose of this grant is to help support musically talented youth in the Florence and the Pee Dee Area (Dillon, Marion, and Darlington counties) with the intent to develop and improve skills in the musical arts. Mariah will have the opportunity to take private piano lessons from Becky Coleman, Latta Elementary music teacher.
Mrs. Coleman remarked, “I have taught Mariah music for five years, and I have enjoyed watching her love and talent for music grow. She enjoys singing, dancing, and acting. Mariah will benefit for the Kathleen Lazar Baskin-Florence Symphony Guild Musical Grant by being able to advance her musical skills through piano.”
