Twenty-four Dixie Youth Baseball Teams began play on Saturday, July 8, at the City of Dillon Recreation Fields off Highway 34.
There are 12 teams who are participating in the Division 1 AA Coach Pitch State Tournament. Teams include Gregg Park, Greenwood, Georgetown, Sumter American, Dillon, Hartsville Northern, Hilton Head, Clinton, Lancaster, Parks Field, Pineview, and Westminister.
There are 12 teams who are participating in the Division 2 AA Coach Pitch State Tournament. Teams include Hartsville National, Hampton, Batesburg-Leesville, Lewisville, Latta, Powdersville, Andrews, St. Paul, Lake View, Gaston, Kingstree, and Bamberg.
The players, coaches, and the fans give it their all…and brave the hot weather and the rain.
There has been some close games and some not so close in this double elimination. The games continue through today (Tuesday) or Wednesday. Accolades to all who have participated and who are still participating in this fine event.
The City of Dillon should be complimented on this well-staffed event as a great deal of preparation has gone into this.
