Austin Moody signed to play baseball for Florence -Darlington Tech at the next level.  The singing took place at Dillon High School where his family members were present to witness this event.
Moody has played baseball since he was only four years old and was influenced most in this sport by his grandfather, Royce Cottingham, Sr., who was also known for his pitching ability.
Although Moody played football for Dillon, he always excelled in baseball, especially when using his best pitch, the “slider”.
Moody is not only a great athlete, but he also excels in academics where he boasts a 4 plus gpa.
He feels he is a fit for Florence Darlington Tech as his has a great work ethic and a desire to compete and is a very capable leader. He expects to receive playing time as a pitcher.
While playing baseball he was 2-time All State, 2-time All Region, North-South All Star, and this year was Region 8-2A Player of the Year.
He excelled both in baseball and softball for the Dillon Wildcats. It’s no wonder his parents Mickey and Ginny Moody,  are extremely proud of their son. He is an outstanding young man.  His parents stated “We are very proud of this success not only on the football field or the baseball diamond, but also in the classroom and in every day life experiences”.
Coach Zach Hayes only spoke of Moody with enthusiasm as he remarked that Moody was a dual sport player of baseball and football who was determined to do what’s best for the team. Hayes said “Austin is a very hard worker who is really dedicated to baseball and the betterment of the team”.
Baseball head coach Gregg Dozier exclaimed that Moody was a 3-year starter in baseball…a special kid who is a good student athlete, a great baseball player, on one who possesses great character. Dozier said “Moody has a great approach to baseball that means something special to him. He helps make the team and coaches better.” “It’s rewarding to to practice as Moody keeps you grounded as a coach.
Dozier lamented that Moody will be difficult to replace on Dillon’s baseball team.  He holds a special place in our hearts.
Dozier said “There’s no doubt that Moody will be successful in the next level of the sport he loves so much. He approaches and plays the game of baseball the way it should be”.
I just want to say “thank you” to Moody for his contributions to Dillon High School in sports and as a student athlete. He has set an example for others to follow.
We wish him the best.

DHS Signings Tre

Tre Melton signed today at Dillon High School to play football for Maryville College in Tennessee.
No one is prouder of Tre than his father Jermaine and his brother, both influenced him in the sport of football.
Melton has played football since he was in the fifth grade.  He began playing rec ball and continued to excel in the sport he loves.
However, his father has always stressed that academics was first. Melton has always worked hard in the classroom and possesses a high gpa that is close to 4.  Jermaine is very proud of his sons accomplishments, both on and off of the field.  I’m very proud of the manner in which he carries himself in the community.  He is one of the most well-mannered young men I have the privilege of knowing. As long as he continues in the manner he was brought up, he will continue to do well academically and in sports.
Tre was offered by Benedict and Guildford but elected to go to Maryville College where he feels right at home as he trusts the coaches and staff there.
Tre is looking forward to contributing to the program.
Tre excelled as a middle linebacker for the Wildcats.
Tre was the defensive player of the year and was 3-time All Region and 3-time All State, great honors for anyone.
Melton will carry his determination and drive to succeed with him as he begins his new career at the next level at Maryville College.
Melton enjoys working out and playing video games.
Coach Zach Hayes offered praise after praise for the great effort and work Tre committed to the Dillon High School program.  Hayes stated “Tre is a great kid who works hard to excel not only in the classroom but also on the playing field. Tre follows instructions well. That is a great trait to possess.”
The entire coaching staff wishes him well at the next level. If he worked there as he did here he will be very successful.
