The third annual Greenlawn Cemetery and Magnolia Cemetery Luminary Service and Kannaday Funeral Home Remembrance Service was held at 7:00 p.m. on  December 2, 2016, to remember the loved ones who have passed away in the past year.
The service was designed to honor the memories and lives of the ones who have gone on before us by worship, lighting of candles, and reading the names of the people buried this past year in the cemeteries and through the funeral homes.
This was a free gift to the community and gave families an opportunity to place personal luminaries on the graves.
The Luminary Service was held in the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon.
The service opened with a Word of Prayer given by Rev. Christopher H. Daniels, Grief Counselor and Funeral Director Assistant at Kannaday Funeral Home.
The Message of Hope was given by Pastor Dean Parker of Union Baptist Church.  Music was led by Soloist, Stephanie J. Ard and Pianists, Susan Johnson.
The Reading of Names was presented by Ryan L. Kannaday, Jr., Owner and Manager of Kannaday Funeral Home and Greenlawn Cemetery.
The memorial candles were lit by Lora McInnis, Funeral Director and Embalmer Apprentice.   The service was concluded by lighting personal luminaries and a congregational hymn, Silent Night.
After the service people were able walk and drive through the cemeteries that contained over five hundred luminaries.
Kelli Smallwood-Daniels, Kenneth Parker, and Jimmy Elliott assisted on lighting the luminaries in the cemeteries.
