James Moultrie was recently selected as Dillon County’s representative in the “Honoring Our Elders Celebration” which was part of the S.C. Black Family Expo.
He was honored at a celebration on Thursday, September 9 at Savannah Grove Baptist Church in Effingham.
Moultrie is a native of Latta.
He is a 1961 graduate of Latimer High School, a 1965 graduate of Morris College in Sumter and has done post-graduate work at Pembroke University, Coastal Carolina University, USC, Francis Marion University, and Pacific University.
He has been employed by the Dillon County Board of Education for 45 years. He is well-known for taking students to visit Washington, D.C., the nation’s capitol.
He has also worked as a referee in various sports and is involved in many community organizations. He is a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Latta.
He is married to Hazel Roberts Moultrie. They have three sons, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
