Joseph L. Brown, Sr., 82, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M.Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in Bethesda Southern Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Born in Grice, NC, May 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Horace D. Brown and Lula Walker Brown. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Byrd Brown of Elgin; children, Joseph L. Brown (Sue) of Elgin, Donald Allan Brown (Tammy) of Bishopville, Deborah B. Byrd (Michael), and Melissa B. Flowers (Daniel) all of Elgin; sister, Marie Montgomery of Conway; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his children, Sallie Anne Brown, Anthony Brown, and Jennifer Brown; brothers, H. Don Brown and Frank L. Brown.
