Services for William Alton Arnette were held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Dillon. Burial with military honors was held in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Arnette, 83, went to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 16, 2021.
Born in Dillon County, SC, April 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Carlie Arnette and Pearlie Butler Arnette. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and former member of the South Carolina National Guard. Alton was the prior owner and operator of Arnette Motor’s, LLC, and was a past member of the Dillon Jaycee’s, and the Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Katherine “Kitty” Arnette of Dillon; sons, William Michael Arnette (Amanda), Patrick Alan “Pat” Arnette (Jackie), and James Warren “Jamie” Arnette (Kathy), all of Dillon; grandchildren, Christopher Arnette (Crystal), Sara Katherine Horne (Ryan), and William James Arnette; step-grandson, Connor Hyatt; great-grandchildren, Micah Hunter Arnette and Adelyn Grace Arnette; sister, Rosa Mae Stone of Rowland, NC.
Mr. Arnette was preceded in death by his parents, Carlie & Pearlie Arnette; and his brothers and sisters, Albert, Clarence, Clyde, Gentry, Floyd, Beatrice, James, Eddie, Esther, and Monroe Arnette.
