The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the deaths of two women on Vanderhall Road, according to Sheriff Douglas Pernell. Deputies received a call around 12:00 a.m. on October 26. Deputies arrived at 12:05 a.m., and Deputy Inman found a car that had hit a tree and saw two females in the vehicle, Pernell said.
The deputy immediately called for EMS and the coroner. Pernell said the women appeared to have gunshot wounds. The Dillon County Violent Crime Task Force along with the SLED tracking team and the forensic team assisted. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victims as Nicole Chavis, age 31 of Orrum, NC, an Indian female and driver of the vehicle, and Constance Sierra Kerns, age 33, of Lumberton, NC, a passenger in the vehicle. Grimsley said both women are being sent to MUSC for an autopsy.
