The Dillon County Board of Education got updates on the school construction projects from Rodney Alexander of Cumming Southern Management at their meeting last week.
The demolition was 85-90 percent complete at the Lake View Middle School/High School project.
At Dillon High School at the Dillon Middle School site, the demolition of the tennis courts is complete. The excavation of the pond is ongoing, and they are starting on the building pad installation.
At the Latta Early Childhood Center site, they have stripped the top soil, almost completed the pond excavation and will begin stormwater installation.
Alexander said they are seeing price increases across the board due to the delay in starting. They are seeing increases in wiring, copper, pipes, concrete, and asphalt. The preliminary estimated cost over-run is about $1,000,000.
Alexander said they are working out rough estimates on the alternates, such as the DMS auditorium, to see if more funds can be borrowed to accommodate these.
Alexander said they still hope to move students in to their facilities by August of next year.
