Dillon County First Steps Parents As Teachers has kicked off the program on Monday, August 15, 2011. Parent As Teachers Program will provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.
This program will focus on four components:
1. Weekly Personal home visits by certified parent educator
2. Monthly Parent group meetings about early childhood development and parenting
3. Development and health screening for young children
4. Linkages and referrals to community networks and resources
Dillon County First Steps Parents As Teachers Programs is currently serving 11 Families with 4 vacancies. We have fourteen (14) children being served and six (6) returning families. Books and/or toys are distributed each visit. A Family Journal is done with each family to allow them to keep track of the progress that their child is doing.
