The Dillon County Educators Retired met on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the B&C Steakhouse in Dillon. President JaNovice Greene Richardson welcomed the group and led in prayer before they enjoyed a meal of their choice and a time of fellowship. Mrs. Richardson reported details of a Summer Leadership Conference which she attended in Columbia in August. Some of the topics discussed concerned insurance rates and benefits for the retirees. One concern was stressed above all else. Identity theft is growing at an alarming rate. We should all be aware of all types of scams. Mrs. Richardson told of several incidents in which innocent people have been “taken in” by scam artists. Be cautious by telephone deals. Mrs. Richardson intends to stimulate interest in this organization this year, as well as, to increase membership. We pledge to support her in her goals. Mrs. Mattie Strickland read the minutes of the May meeting. Mrs. Dale Hardaway gave the
treasurer’s report and accepted dues for this year. Door prizes were awarded. The next meeting will be in December.
