There has been much consternation about Archie Scott’s county recreation account being used to pay a $50 fee for a girl who apparently had no ties to Dillon. I have been told her grandparents were born in Dillon County. Regardless, this is a small amount to help a young girl compete for a scholarship to further her education. If the money keeps this young lady in school or provides help to get her in college, it is money well spent. I am not advocating county funds be routinely used to help people outside Dillon County, but in this case I salute Mr. Scott for his gesture.
