William Perry Barfield, 63, husband of Libby Lewis Barfield, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
William was born August 31, 1948 in Marion County, a son of the late Ernest and Gladys Thompson Barfield. He was owner and operator of Home Security Pest Control. William was a US Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Viet Nam War. He was a member of VFW Post #6122 and the American Legion. William was a Mason and Shriner and was a member of Damascus Lodge #161. He was one of the original founders of the Omar Stock Cars.
Surviving William in addition to his wife of the home are: a Son: Shad Barfield and his wife Brandie of Nichols; a Daughter: Crystal Barfield Hayes and her husband David of Lake View; a Grandson: Judd Lewis Hayes; and 4 Sisters: Betty Ruth Barfield of Lake View, Nina Faye Campbell of Dillon, Shirley Ann Campbell of Roanoke, Va. And Gaynelle Barfield of Lake View.
William was predeceased by 2 brothers, Perry William Barfield and Ernest Gene Barfield and a sister, Patricia “Pat” Carter.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 18 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Burial followed in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
