Services for Evelyn C. Ward were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ward, 88, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Dillon County, March 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lyde Coates and Amanda Daniels Coates. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she taught sunday school for 25 years, was a member of the W.M.U, Choir, and the Ladies Prayer Group. She was the widow of the late Willie W. Ward.
Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla “Dot” (Ed) Horne of Dillon; son, Billy (Jennie) Ward of Wingate, NC; sisters, Dorothy Norris, and Theo Stone, both of Dillon; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Carter; brothers, Leroy Coates, and Clem Coates; and great-granddaughter, Amanda Hyatt.
