L. T. McCollum, 71, passed away on March 5, 2012, after a long battle with a debilitating disease.
He was born August 3, 1940 in Columbia, SC, to Dora Louise Easterling Drost and Luther Thomas McCollum. He married Betty Zimmerman on December 20, 1972, later divorced. He then married the love of his life, Veronica May Woolsey McCollum, who preceded him in death in 2006. He was a devoted father to his daughters.
He graduated from Latta High School in 1958 and from Clemson University in 1964. He enjoyed a long career as an Electronics Engineer, working all across the country. He had a passion for Amateur Radio and spoke to people all over the world as N4PZH. He loved photography, bird watching, and hiking. He was an active Baptist for many years.
He is survived by his four daughters: Heather May Wright Gilcrease (Eddie), Jessica Lynn Wright, Angela Augusta Wright, and Katherine Diane McCollum Bowe (Lonnie); 11 grandchildren: Justin Ray Widdison, Sasha Jeanne Widdison, Julianna May Widdison, Mason McClure Widdison, Justin Chase Gilcrease, Gage Bradford Gilcrease, Elizabeth Joy Burgess, James Daniel Burgess, Peter Thomas Burgess, Emma Rachel Burgess, Josie Lynn Burgess; and 1 great-grandchild: Jocelyn Starr Widdison.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 12th, 2012 at 10am at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy UT, followed by graveside services at 11 a.m..-larkin@larkincares.com
