COLUMBIA – A memorial service for June Devall Rankin, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rankin, wife of Bobby Morton Rankin, died Saturday, April 7, 2012. Born on February 17, 1934, in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Claude Devall and Ina Mae Mackey Devall. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed helping others. She graduated from Francis Marion University at age 54 to pursue a career in education. Mrs. Rankin taught English at Johnakin Middle School in Marion, S.C. and was a member of Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of 59 years; sons, Bob Rankin, Jr. (Linda) of Green Sea, Ben Rankin (Star) of Clemson; daughter, Jill R. Koenigs (Thom) of Columbia; grandchildren, Adrienne Burris (Ben), Alex Rankin, Mary Devall Koenigs, Maddie Koenigs; niece, Judy Marchbanks Morgan (Robert) and nephew, Dean March-banks. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lee Hendricks.
