Daniel Philip Lane, 29, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Charleston.
Services were held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at East Dillon Baptist Church with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Dillon, SC, December 17, 1982, he was the son of Charles and Phyllis Bethea Lane. He was a member of East Dillon Baptist Church, and he attended Dillon Christian School, Governor’s School of South Carolina, he received his BS at Cornell University and he received his Master’s and PhD at MIT. He was a Researcher with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Cape Cod, MA.
Survivors include his parents, Charles & Phyllis B. Lane of Dillon; sisters, Pam (Kenny) Laird of High Point, NC, and Paula Lane of Charleston; brother, Stephen (Karen) Lane of Dillon; grandmother, Eva Altman of Dillon; nephews, Eric Laird and Cooper Lane; niece, Ashlyn Lane. Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pearl Dean Bethea.
