Graveside services for Hugh Vergil Hayes was held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum with entombment in the Mausoleum directed by Cooper Funeral Home.  Visitation was held 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Hayes, 87, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Carolina Hospital System in Marion.
Born in Orlando, Florida, October 29, 1925, he was the son of the late Hugh Bliss Hayes and Grace Scott Hayes. 
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Carmichael Hayes of Niceville, FL; children, Beth (Robert) Samuels of Freeport, FL, Nancy Twitty of Niceville, FL, Carol Roberson of Ripley, MI, and Tony (Chris) Hayes of Sturgess. SD; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Hayes, Richard Hayes, and Gene Hayes; sisters, Judy Hayes and Lois.
Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his sister, Pat King; and brothers, Nathan Hayes, and Paul Hayes.
