Sigmond Kornblut of Dillon died November 2, 2013 after a long illness. Born December 10, 1926 he was the son of Leon Kornblut and Lizzie Schafer Kornblut. He graduated Latta High School and attended University of SC and the Citadel. He enlisted in the US Navy serving in the Pacific. He operated Kornblut’s Department Store in Dillon and Factory Carpet Center. He was an avid golfer and founding member of Twin Lakes Country Club and coached in the Dillon Kiwanis Club youth baseball program. He was a life member of Ohav Shalom Congregation in Dillon and Beth Israel Congregation of Florence. He was married to the late Barbara Ginsberg and is survived by daughters Janis K. Rosen (Mark) of Springfield, VA, Dana K. Whaley of Dallas, TX, two grandchildren Lindsey Rosen Moore DO (Cody) of Pensacola, FL and Adam Rosen of Washington, DC. He was predeceased by daughter, Debra K. Frank and sisters Rebecca K. Edwards, Esther K. Richman and a brother, Moses Kornblut. Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday November 6 at 11 AM at Florence Jewish Cemetery on Church Street in Florence. The family will receive friends immediately following internment at Beth Israel Congregation 316 Park Ave. in Florence.
