The Lady Wildcats opened the girls varsity basketball season on Tuesday, December 10, and wracked up a 3-0 record in their first week with wins over Marlboro County, South Robeson, and Lake View.

Dillon hosted Marlboro County on Tuesday night for a 60-38 win over the Bulldogs. The Lady Wildcats took a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and outscored Marlboro 16-5 and 17-13 in the second and third for a 48-26 lead. Marlboro went 13-12 in the fourth but the Wildcat lead was insurmountable.

Tyshanna Lester led the Wildcats with a game-high 17 points and Brianna Lee scored 14 with Yolanda Campbell and Khamele Shaw each adding nine. Nakedra Page and Da’Kerhia Samuel each earned four points and Shar’asia Samuel scored one.

Raquell Shaw led Marlboro with a team-high 13 points and Ka’dega Bridges added nine. Bianca Covington scored seven; Aliyah Cataldo, 4; Tonionna Jacobs, 2; Shaquanza Williams, 1; and Shakeria Bridges, 1.

On Wednesday, December 11, the Lady Wildcats traveled to South Robeson and earned a 70-41 win over the Mustangs. Dillon took a huge 22-6 lead in the first and held onto it all the way, outscoring the Mustangs 14-8 in the second quarter for a 36-14 lead at the half. South Robeson rallied in the third to outscore Dillon 20-19, but couldn’t make a dent with the Wildcats outpacing them 15-7 in the fourth to seal the win.

Tyshanna Lester again led Dillon with a game-high 25 points and 12 steals. Khamele Manning added 12 points in the win, and Yolanda Campbell scored 11 with 17 rebounds. Brianna Lee also added 11 points, and Da’Kerhia Samuel scored 10 points with 18 rebounds.

A’Terria Quick led South Robinson with a team-high 18 points. Emonte McLeod and Savanna Hunt each added six points and Jaquel Stackhouse and Emeral Werrell each earned five.

On Friday, Dillon traveled to Lake View and took a 69-31 win over the Wild Gators. The Wildcats took a 26-3 lead in the first and outscored the Gators in each quarter to seal the win.

Tyshanna Lester led Dillon with a game-high 14 points and Cali McCrea added 12. Yolanda Campbell scored nine; Nakedra Page, 8; Brianna Lee, 8; Khamele Manning, 5; Da’Kerhia Samuel, 5; Jelissa Fenttlaff, 4; Shar’asia Samuel, 2; and Kendra McLeod, 2.

Olivia McDaniel led Lake View with a team-high 11 points, sinking three three-pointers and a two-pointer with a rebound and a block. Jasmine Ford added eight points with three two-point shots and two free throws, and grabbed four rebounds with one assist, one steal, and one block. Tranya Ford earned seven points with two two-point shots and three free throws and made one steal and one block.

Kayla Page and Pamela Butler each sank a two-pointer and Page grabbed six rebounds with Butler picking up one. Diayah Williams sank a free throw for Lake View and grabbed three rebounds, and Toni Nash picked up a defensive rebound.

The Lady Wildcats improved to 3-0 while Lake View fell to 3-2 overall.

Dillon’s teams were scheduled to travel to Marlboro County tonight for their last regular season game before the holiday break. The Wildcats will participate in the Robeson County Shootout beginning on Wednesday and will return to regular season action on Tuesday, January 7, in Latta.
