Lake View’s Wild Gators defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes 8-5 on Thursday night in varsity baseball action in Lake View.

Marion took a 2-1 lead in the first inning, but Lake View added four runs in the bottom of the second to pull ahead. Marion added two runs in the top of the third, but the Gators scored three in the bottom of the fourth for an 8-4 lead. Lake View held the Swamp Foxes to just one more run in the top of the seventh to retain the 8-5 win.

Carson Rogers earned the win on the mound, pitching 4.6 innings and striking out 10 batters while allowing just one hit and one walk. Marion’s Darius Hunt took the loss, pitching six innings for nine hits, eight runs, five outs, and three walks.

At bat, Lake View was led by Josh Price, 2-for-3 with three RBI and Brent Herlong, 2-for-3 with a RBI. Roger Scott and Hunter Stevens both went 2-for-3 in the win as the Gators totaled nine hits.

Marion’s M. Lightfoot led the Swamp Foxes at bat, going 1-for-3 with a RBI. Marion had five hits in the effort.

Lake View improves to 6-1 for the season with a 3-1 record in Region 8-A.
