To The Editor:
As I have been watching and reading the news concerning the town of Latta, I feel somewhat sad because of the matters at hand.
To me personally, Latta has always appeared as a close-knit community that cared about the welfare of their citizens.  
I enjoy going to the community events around Christmas, and occasionally visiting a ball game.  
Latta council recently gave the ex-chief a vote of confidence.  What exactly does this mean? I don’t think they even realize what they are saying.  
Riding through Latta, it appears that they have bigger issues to be concerned with than who has the power.  It is not anything unusual to find another patched spot in US-301 due to their failing water pipes.  One would think that they would be wanting to produce monies for the water needs rather than financing an election to determine who will have the power.  
On another note, I wonder if anyone has any standards anymore.  I don’t necessarily agree with how the mayor said what he said; but I do agree with what he said, “It ain’t right!”  Do we as a people think that it is okay for the lifestyle in which the chief is living?  Regardless, it is wrong whether we have a strong love for the chief, or not.  
I noticed in recent news the chief was swearing in a new officer using the Holy Word of GOD.  It would be nice if those that used it for this purpose would open it and read the contents.  Another book(s) that the chief should be familiar with is the laws of the state.  In the Code of Laws, there is a law still on the books called Buggery; it can be found at 16-15-120.  This shows the violation of the style of life in which the chief is living that carries a fine of 5 yrs. or $500, or both.  It discusses the matter of those that commit an abominable act with mankind or with beast.  Also the Holy Bible speaks of this lifestyle as an abomination in Leviticus 18:22- Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination (KJV).  Some will say that is Old Testament, and it doesn’t apply to us today. Well let me bring it up to date in Romans 1:26-For this cause GOD gave them up, unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature (KJV). Those things that were an abomination before Christ came is an abomination today regardless whether it is my child or yours.  Do we want our children to think this is right and there are no consequences?  
Our President is calling and congratulating those that have openly come out as being gay. I often wonder how many of the families has he called, to give condolences for their son or daughter when they have died of aids, or contracted some other infectious disease due to a homosexual life?  Proverbs 16:25-There is a way that seemeth right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death (KJV).  
I have presented three reasons, two Biblical, and one the laws of man.  Does the lifestyle of the chief seem right to you?  GOD forbid! Pastors wake up your flocks, humble yourselves, seek the face of GOD, and turn from your wicked ways.  Cry out for a Holy Ghost Revival, because we need it as much today as they did in the days of Noah prior to the flood, and the time prior to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah!
