The Dillon County Technology Center Sports and Entertainment Marketing and Sports and Entertainment Management students visited the CNN Center, Coke Cola Museum, and toured the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend.

The trip was geared toward enlightening students on the many career opportunities available to them in the sports and entrainment industry.
The tour began with a behind the scenes look at the CNN control room.
It then moved to HLNÒ News Set where we were allowed to interact with the digital weather board in a mock weather forecast. The students were shown the CNN International News Room from an observation deck. The students learned interesting facts about CNN and the various networks in Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc.
The tour concluded with a look at the HLNÒ Newsroom. Mrs. Linda Turner, teacher DCTC, stated “The tour was a wonderful opportunity for the students. It provided them with broader prospective and endless possibilities for their future careers in sports and entertainment. They learned broadcasting the news consisted of more than being in front or behind a camera.”
The group moved to the World of Coke-Cola Museum where a history of the world famous drink was presented in interactive formats.
The students were shown the bottling process from start to finish.
They were given an opportunity to taste Coke products from around the world. They were particularly fond of the Beverly drink from Italy. The tour not only provided them with a history of the world famous Coke Brand but it gave them in sight into the various marketing promotions used throughout history with the brand.
The weekend concluded with a wonderful tour of the Georgia Dome, home of The Atlanta Falcons.
The students were allowed to visit the coach’s box in the top and the stadium and move down to the field. They were show the different private boxes and discussed pricing as well as staffing of the boxes. Next they moved to the Verizon Club which is available to individuals with season tickets.
The tour ended with the student’s being allowed to exit the locker room and enter the field by the same tunnel the players would take for a game. It was the highlight of the experience.
