The new playground is open at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.
The playground, which includes two play systems, one arch swing set, safety fall surface and fence, cost $97,000. The large play system is designed for children 5-12 years old, and the smaller system is designed for 2-5 years old. The three-bay arch swing is designed for toddlers to adults.
There are 16 activities on the large system that has capacity of 50 children. Some of the activities include 6 slides, rappelling rock, fireman’s pole, wave climber, math panel, and leg lift. The smaller system has five activities that has capacity of 15 children and includes a slide, climbing wall, button steps, and a wave climber. The three-bay arch swing set has a total of six swings. Two swings are designed for toddlers with the remaining 4 swings for those older.
The playground is open 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. Restrooms and vending machines are located in the wellness center and are only available when Wellness Center is open. The playground is free to use and designed for children 12 and younger.
Parking is allowed only in the paved marked spaces at the Wellness Center.
Funding for the playground is through South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism PARD Grant program which contributed $49,0000 towards the project.
